This forge uses natural gas at residential pressure. To get this to work you need to keep your minimum gas flow pipe size to 3/8". A one inch feed really helps. It is all about volume of gas when not relying on pressure. This picture shows the gas regulation system. The top gas solenoid controlls gas flow based on PID temperature controller. The back gas solenoid is there as a safety to shut off all gas in the event of a power failure. This setup will keep +-2 degrees of set temperature. Range is from ~1200F to ~2500F.

PID temperature controller can be moved from one device to another. This controller is used for the forge, salt pot and quench tank.
